The Franchising Association of India (FAI) is a nationally incorporated not-for-profit industry association for the $4 billion franchise sector growing at a rate of 25-30% annually in India, representing franchisees, franchisors and service providers to the sector.
Its head office is in Mumbai and regional office in New Delhi. FAI has formed various committees for increased participation of the members in developing the franchising industry in respective sectors.
Providing educational programs, FAI also offers marketing services and networking opportunities that bring together the top creative thinkers and franchise veterans to talk about the most important issues affecting franchising.
It was formed in the year 2001 and as an Industry body FAI is focused on promoting the concept of Franchising in India by establishing the international standards and introducing the franchising community to the global best practices.
Membership of the Franchising Association of India is voluntary, and is open to any organization or individual involved in the franchise sector, including franchisees, franchisors, lawyers, accountants, banks, consultants, academics, and publishers.
FAI is a member of World Franchise Council (WFC) and Asia-Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC)
The World Franchise Council (WFC) is a non-political association of more than 40 national franchise associations from around the world. Formed in 1994, it aims to promote the growth of franchising internationally, and facilitate best practice in franchise association management among its members. It also aims to foster and encourage the development of franchise associations in nations where such an association does not currently exist.
For each country, only one national franchise association is recognized by the WFC with the exception of Hong Kong. FAI represents India.
The Asia-Pasific Franchise Confederation (APFC) is an amicable, non-political association of National Franchise Associations around Asia Pacific region. It was formed on 24th September 1998. Its objectives are to inform each other of developments and to represent international bodies.This site serves as a gateway for information about the franchising industry and National Franchise Associations around the globe.

Members of FAI can avail themselves of immense opportunities, right from networking with corporate majors of Indian and global industry to framing policies through close linkages with government. The FAI represents the interests of the whole franchise sector – franchisees, franchisors and suppliers. The FAI co-ordinates member feedback for the compilation and representation to governments on relevant franchising issues. Members save time, energy and money making representation to government by channeling their feedback through the FAI.
