Overland Park-based Title Boxing Club celebrated a milestone last week – opening its first club in Latin America.
The boutique fitness franchise signed a deal with Dominican entrepreneur Manuel Corripio Alonso, who now has the rights to open clubs in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. He opened his first club is in the Dominican Republic and plans to open a minimum of three clubs there as well as one next year in Puerto Rico.
“We’re very excited to expand with a phenomenal entrepreneur. … This is a landmark agreement for Title Boxing Club,” Title Boxing Club President Susan Boresow told the Kansas City Business Journal. “The expansion for us marks a new era for our brand.”
Corripio Alonso isn’t new to the franchising market. He operates a number of franchise brands, including Burger King, Papa John’s, Krispy Kreme and Orangetheory Fitness. He’s also vice president of the Corripio Group, one of the largest employers in the Dominican Republic. Corripio Alonso and the Corripio Group have experience in trade, distribution, wholesale and media. That breadth of experience is an asset, particularly with Corripio Alonso’s solid understanding of franchise models and processes, Boresow said.
Beyond the new Dominican Republic location, Title Boxing Club has one other international location in Cancun, Mexico.
The boutique fitness franchise landed on the Inc. 5000 earlier this year with a three-year revenue growth of 60 percent. It ended 2016 with $65 million in revenue. Title Boxing Club started franchising inn 2009 and has grown to more than 160 clubs. Its goal is to expand to 500 to 700 clubs in the next three years.
