Arby’s to open new restaurant in Kirksville

A new fast food restaurant is coming to Kirksville.

Arby’s has announced its intention to open a new restaurant on the 2600 block of North Baltimore Street, near the new Hobby Lobby.

A firm construction timeline is not yet in place, but DRM-Arby’s Director of Marketing Abbey Ramsey said the company hopes to open in the spring or summer of 2018.

“As a company we are growing and expanding and looking for those areas that are a great fit for us,” she said. “Kirksville is one that came up on our radar as a community that would respond well to the Arby’s product.”

Ramsey said DRM, a franchisee of Arby’s, has 76 restaurants and is trying to expand within its existing markets. The company also owns the Arby’s in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Ramsey said new Arby’s restaurants typically open with 40-50 employees, including about six in management positions. Ramsey was not certain how many of the other positions are full-time offerings.

She said the company is beginning its hiring process, seeking a general manager, assistant manager and shift managers.
