Denny’s coming to Eltingville: Will it be a ‘grand slam’?

A Denny’s outfit comes soon to Eltingville for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant is underway at the former location to Perkins which closed at the end of January.

Staten Islander Javaid Syed is the franchisee for the location that, come spring, will be serving their signature “Grand Slam” breakfast and Value Meals like the $2-$4-$8 special.

There are a few fun facts the Spartanburg, S.C.-based company would like to share with Staten Islanders via Syed: First, Denny’s is a 24-hour, daily operation that never closes. Additionally, the Eltingville spot will be one of over 1,700 franchises in the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Guam, Puerto Rico, New Zealand and the Philippines.

Another corporate fun fact: Denny’s is the biggest full-service family restaurant chain in America.
“We’re thrilled to hear about the excitement surrounding our new Denny’s location,” says Syed. “Staten Island is a community made up of hard-working people from all walks of life, and as ‘America’s Diner,’ we saw this as a perfect opportunity to become a part of such a wonderful community.”

Syed adds, “We hope our new location can become a staple in this area — a place where everyone can come together to enjoy great food, value and service. The community has been very supportive and we look forward to unveiling our new location this spring.”
Will there be more Denny’s in the works for Syed?

He says, “The focus for now will be on ensuring this location serves the needs of this community and provides the best experience possible, but Denny’s is always exploring potential opportunities for new locations.”

“The new Denny’s will offer guests the classic diner experience they love with a great modern look in a comfortable environment. We look forward to sharing more specifics about the design in the very near future,” says Syed.

Details of the grand opening are being hammered out and the restaurant staff plans, as noted, for a spring opening.

In the meantime, Perkins locations are 1745 Forest Ave., Graniteville; 718-720-8888 and 1409 Hylan Blvd., Grasmere; 718-979-9180. Gift cards and rewards cards are accepted at these locations even if they were acquired at the defunct Eltingville store.
