New Fuddruckers coming to Duncan in September

A new Fuddruckers restaurant is scheduled to open in Duncan in September, creating 50 new jobs.
It will be the ninth Fuddruckers operated by local franchisees Lee Ann and Allen Johnston. The restaurant will be located in a 4,980-square-foot building at 1515 Highway 290 that formerly was a Denny’s restaurant. It will be the second Fuddruckers located in Spartanburg County. The first opened in 1985 at 1509 John B. White Sr. Blvd.
Allen Johnston said the new site is in a prime location, with growth expected along Highway 290. It will take about 10 weeks to move the restaurant equipment into the new location, he said. Spencer Hines Properties principal Ben Hines said his company is in the process of buying the building and plans to lease it to Johnston. The cost to renovate the building will be about $500,000, Hines said.
Hines said he expects the new Fuddruckers will attract customers from the surrounding commercial businesses and residential neighborhoods.
“With the development going on, it’s best to have a Fuddruckers there,” Hines said.
Johnston said the permitting process will begin soon to make upgrades to the site. Johnston said the upgrades will include landscaping on the property and some changes to the parking lot.
“We are excited to be a part of the community,” Johnston said.
Johnston owns Fuddruckers restaurants in Greenville, Anderson, Greer, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Matthews, N.C. The Fuddruckers restaurant on John B. White Sr. Boulevard continues to be one of his best performing restaurants in sales, Johnston said.
