The family who opened Dairy Queen Grill & Chill last year on South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville will expand the fast food chain this summer.
Rich Van Buskirk and his father are owners of the 2,800-square-foot Dairy Queen opening in early July on 214 Oakwood Ave. N.E. The new Oakwood Village location will seat 72 people and feature a drive-thru for easy ordering.
Van Buskirk launched a 2,600-square-foot Dairy Queen on 10019 Memorial Parkway S.E. last fall and plans to open another in the County Line Road area in Madison. He said traffic at the south Huntsville location has been steady since October.
“It’s been fantastic,” he said. “The city, the town have been great. It’s been a good opening.”
The new Oakwood site will employ approximately 80 part- and full-time workers. Van Buskirk said they are taking applications now for hourly crew members and managers on www.pleaseapplyonline.com/HuntsvilleDQ.
Randy Taylor, president with Tom Taylor Agency in Huntsville, is the broker who handled the real estate transaction for the new Dairy Queen on Oakwood Avenue.
“They plan to open several more stores and I’m helping Dairy Queen find more sites,” he said
Dairy Queen has multiple Grill & Chill locations in north Alabama and plans to open a store next to 1143 N. Brindlee Mountain Parkway in Arab soon.
